The Movie Pride and Prejudice brings out many powerful character's in the novel. Though the movie is not only similar to the novel it is also different as well. Comment on some the similarity and differences.
well one similarity of the movie and the novel is that the character's personalities were the same in both instances ...
also one difference was that the movieportrayed certain parts of the book differently to the novel. for example when Mr. Whickam and Mr Darcy first encountered each other was in a different setting than was portrayed in the book ... in the movie they met each other in a field but in the novel it was in the town on the street.
The movie version of Pride and Prejudice, although similar to the unabridged novel has a few differences.
Similarities: 1. The personalities/traits of the characters and the situations in which the characters are put are generally similar in both the movie and the novel. All in all the movie stays true to the original plot of the novel.
Differences: 1. In the movie the characters' personalities are developed more quickly than in the novel.
2. In the movie, Darcy's first proposal to Elizabeth occurs in the rain whereas in the book it occurs in Mr. Collin's house.
3. In the movie, Bingley's other sister, Mrs. Bingley-Hurst, does not exist whilst in the book her presence is quite prevalent.
So true Ariel... In addition to what Danielle and Ariel had already posted...
One similarity is the style of language used. The editors of the movie's script made a conscious effort to include old english in the actors' dialogue. This helps to give reades a clear idea of the personality traits of main characters like Darcy and Elizabeth. Also, the dress code mimicks that which was worn in that era. Lady Catherine is a perfect example of this. Her apparel and make-up are very convincing. Contrastingly, the movie does not include all of the characters from the novel in the movie. Also, the lines in the movie are slightly altered.
i believe that everyone said it all.lol similarity that the character's personality was the same in the novel as the movie. differences was that when darcy proposed to elizabeth it was pouring rain while in the book it was at collins house.so i think that everyone said it all.
I am agreeing with everyone here since although the differences is in the majority, in some aspects the movie and book are indeed similar....
In both, the characters' personalities which pratically the same despite the difference of setting in some aspects of teh story and the fact that some parts of the novel itself were indeed excluded from the movie which would have been able to change the whole idea conveyed. The style of language is another important factor which has remained the same since the change in style would have affected the understanding of the plot inclusive of the character's actions and reactions.
For the differences, I agree with Sarah, the movie does eliminate characters and of course there were differences in the setting of various scenes for example the proposals made by Mr.Darcy. And in terms of the similarities, I agree with everyone, the characters personalities in both the book and movie were rather similiar
The most powerful character in both the play and movie was Elizabeth Bennet who was not only beautiful but brilliant and of strong character. She refused to conform to beliefs which she herself was against althhough it went against the customs of the day and her parents wishes (specifically her mother's). The similarities which were found in the movie and the book was that the characters were similar. Elizabeth was a stoic character, Jane was mild tempered, Mrs Bennet was very nosy etc. The differences were that Darcy proposed at Collin's House while in the movie he does so in the rain. The setting was different and Mrs Bingley Hurst was not present in the movie.
you know i guess that what u get for posting a comment so late every one has already mentioned all the similarities and differences i noticed guys could have left something for me to say but it cool it already been mentioned
